EMU IN THE SKY

"Emu in the Sky" is a winning poster design that I created as part of the academic brief for the Australian Geographic Little Explorers Magazine. My objective was to craft a visually appealing artwork that would serve as an educational tool for a young audience. So, I selected the theme of space, as it sparks curiosity and fascination within children. As a First Nations artist, I felt it was imperative to incorporate elements that reflect my people’s unique perspective on space. I thoughtfully integrated the emu into the design, creating an artwork that appeals to children while also educating them about First Nations astronomy and culture. "Emu in the Sky” is my attempt to inspire young explorers to learn more about space while also fostering a sense of respect and appreciation for the First Nations people’s heritage and perspectives.
